Restricted Access A1 and A2 Restricted A1 Available to persons aged 17 years and over who have already completed a CBT and DSA Motorcycle Theory Test. A DSA practical motorcycle test is undertaken on a machine of between 75cc and 125cc with a power output not exceeding 11kw (14.6bhp). A rider passing this test is then restricted to a motorcycle meeting these specifications. Restricted A2 Available to persons 17 years and over who have already completed a CBT and DSA Motorcycle Theory Test. A DSA practical motorcycle test is undertaken on a machine between 120cc and 125cc with a power output not exceeding 25kw (33bhp). A rider passing this test is then restricted for a period of two years to ride a machine of any size cubic capacity (cc) provided that it does not exceed 25 kw (33bhp). After two years the rider is then entitled to ride any type of machine without a further test. Technical The power of an engine is measured in either Kilowatts (Kw) or Brake Horse Power (Bhp). A Kw is the metric equivalent of Bhp. 0.75 Kw is equal to 1 bhp. Engine capacity (size) is measured in Cubic Centimetres (cc). The size or cubic capacity of an engine is not directly related to its power output.
